Gothenburg (Göteborg) is my home here in Sweden. Although I call Vancouver, Canada, my home as well. Being with a Swede, my other half. I spend a good deal of time here in Sweden.
Gothenburg is famous for its cuisine. Although not as cosmopolitan as Stockholm (Oops! I hope my other half never reads this), Gothenburg is a delightful big small city. You know like New York being a big big city! Gothenburg is a big small city. Get it?
I live right in the Center of Gothenburg. In Swedish is called Göteborg Centrum which makes it very convenient for me to get anywhere by foot. Although I do drive being used to the North American way of life. You can literally get around to most places by tram here. Parking is horrible here in the Center of the City. As a tourist, if you don't have to, don't drive.
Like a lot of the older European cities, you will find a lot of the cobblestone sidewalks. Beautiful but watch out for those high heels of yours.
Volvo is based in Gothenburg and the people are proud of that here! What else do you know about the Swedes and Sweden? Swedish Massage? In real life, I don't think it's really from Sweden. Just like the Dutch pancakes. Don't think Holland is famous for their pancakes! But the world knows that this small country of 9 million people has Ikea, Volvo, Saab and guess what Skype.com is invented by a Swede.. and the list goes on.. :-)
